I need to ask your advice – what do you think we should do??
When we met with the doctor he said that when it is time to transfer embryo’s, he recommends that we only transfer one. The embryologist said that we can choose if we want to transfer one or two – and there is a higher success rate with 2.
There is a 60-70 percent success rate with one embryo.
There is a 80-90 percent chance with two embryo’s – and a 60 percent chance of twins.
Since I was a little girl, I always wanted twins. I even had twin cabbage patch kids…a boy and girl!
I also have real life experience with twins – I was a full time nanny for almost 4 years. When I started they had 2 kids exactly a year a part, ages 1 and 2; and the mom was pregnant with twins. 3 months later the twins were born, and the older two turned 2 and 3. Their mom went back to work right away – and even went away for a one week cruise when the twins were 3 months old – leaving me alone with all 4 of the kids. I loved it! It was the best job I’ve had so far.
I said all that to say that I feel like I do have a realistic idea of what parenting twins would be like.
My first instinct is to say – yes put two in! I would love twins!
BUT I don’t have any idea what being pregnant with twins would be like. I know that there is more risk with twins – for the mother – and for the babies. And if something bad happened, would I feel guilty for choosing to have 2????
BUT there are risks with any pregnancy – even with one.
AND they could put two in, and only one implants…
We are praying and asking God to give us wisdom in this decision. It is the unknown that makes these kind of decisions difficult. You never know what is going to happen.
What would you do? If you have done IVF what did you do? Any advice???

If I was trying for my first, I would put back two just because chances are higher. But if we do ivf for #2, I will probably only put back one (depending on the quality of embryos). So to answer your question...I lean toward two instead of one! And although there are risks with twins, they are also wonderful too.
I haven't had to do IVF yet, but putting myself in your shoes (as best I can obviously) I would go for 2. There are pros and cons to both decisions, but I would do both in case one doesn't implant. Anyway, that is my two cents for all it is worth. Good luck!
Oh girl...... Go for two!!!! That would be so awesome!!
